As one of the key activities of the 2020 National Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week, the 5G Application Innovation Summit Forum was held in Beijing from October 15 to 21. The forum was sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and jointly organized by the China Society of Communications, China Mobile Communications Corporation and China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.

"In the past, the coal industry has made some explorations in the automation, unmanned operation, intelligent inspection and other aspects of fully mechanized mining face and heading face. However, due to the problems of hard wired maintenance of transmission links, narrow wireless band width and high delay, many systems can only realize monitoring, but cannot carry out real-time monitoring."
Wang Haigang, deputy general manager of Xinyuan Company of Yangmei Group, introduced at the forum that the application of 5G technology solves the problem of transmission link jam, helps the transformation of traditional automation to intelligent control technology, and is expected to realize the intelligent mine. Wang Haigang shared at the forum how 5G can help the construction of intelligent mines in many ways.

The project will apply 5G to automatic meter reading, electrolyte leakage/energy consumption analysis, remote control of crane, environmental monitoring and other links, promoting cost and efficiency reduction, production safety, energy saving and environmental protection of the factory.

"5G is the first choice of digital infrastructure and the leader of new infrastructure."
Wu Hequan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said at the forum. Wu Hequan believes that 5G is a wireless transmission channel, but it is also a link between cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, blockchain and industrial Internet, opening up the whole process of data collection, storage, transmission, processing, analysis and decision-making, and giving play to the role of data as a factor of production.
From the perspective of cloud computing, Wu Hequan analyzed that the download speed of 5G could reach hundreds of megabits per second, even faster than the read and write speed of mechanical hard disk, which means that installing applications on the cloud is even faster than installing them on the local terminal, plug and play, smooth experience.

In addition, 5G and the industrial Internet will give rise to a large number of apps.
"5G adopts a service-based network system, accepts external apps with open interfaces, generates business units in the form of APP modules, and the intelligent combination can adapt to new business forms in the future."

Wu said 5G and the industrial Internet provide a broad market and opportunities for mass entrepreneurship and innovation for apps. But according to Wu, 5G will also face many challenges. For example, in the aspect of cloud data security computing, it is necessary to consider how to ensure that data can be shared but sensitive data is not leaked when data is integrated across enterprises.
While there are black-box based trusted computing environments, third party reliability still needs to be demonstrated. In addition, the key performance of 5G needs to be further developed in application scenarios.
"New infrastructure with 5G as an important platform will stimulate a bigger market, accelerate the deepening and expansion of applications, but also bring new technical challenges and network security risks, and put forward many new topics for innovation." Wu Hequan concluded.
